Origami Chair


This chair does not have the legs, seat or back of a classical chair; instead one folded surface of rectangular plastic fills these functions and becomes an abstract object. We attempted a departure from the traditional concept of a chair….the assembly of parts. With this concept, we found several benefits; the Origami chair can be folded and compressed for transportation making it a light weight elegant chair that can “pop-up” into any situation. You receive a flat light package, open the folded chair, add the cushion and it is ready to sit on. The plastic material is a high-quality polypropylene twin-wall sheet which uses a copolymer resin to increase impact and low temperature performance and retains the ability to be flexed an unlimited number of times without breaking. It is 100% recyclable.

この椅子には伝統的な脚も、背も、座もない。その代わりに一枚の板を折ることでできている。古典的な「椅子」のコンセプトからの決別を試みた。 この新しいコンセプトによって、見かけだけではなく、いくつかのおまけが見つかった。小さく畳まれたオリガミチェアは、どこにでも運ばれ、いろんな状況下で椅子が出現する。小さなパッケージになって配達された椅子に、クッションを置けば、ハイ出来上がり。素材はポリプロピレン樹脂でできた段ボールでできていて、柔軟で軽量、無限回の折り曲げでも割れない強さがある。１００％リサイクル可能。
