Origami Hat


This is an experiment to apply origami to hat design. All of these hats are based on folding a single sheet of paper without gluing or cutting. Two different categories of pattern were used. One type applied parallel tiling patterns (which are like those shown on the page “origami art”) rolled into a cylinder. The other is a new radial pattern which creates a dome. Additionally, these radial patterns can be categorized into 2 groups. One group contains a singular point where you cannot not continue to fold. The last image shows that the point was avoided by introducing a central opening in the pattern. These hats were all modeled at the NYC Easter parade.
 
 

オリガミ帽

 

オリガミを帽子に応用できないかという実験。どの例の場合もすべて一枚の紙から折ることだけでできていて、糊やハサミは原理的に使われていない。ここでは大きく異なって分類されるだろうと思われる２つのパタン群が試みられた。当ウェブサイトの「オリガミアート」で示した平行状のパタンを筒状に丸めることで被れるようにしたものと、自然にドーム状に折れてゆくオリガミパタンを見つけて、帽子の形になるようにしたものである。後者の場合は放射状パタンとなるが、さらに、中央に特異点があるものと無いものと分類できるように思われる。特異点を持つものの場合はその場所で折ることが不可能になるので穴として残されている（最後のページ）　これらの帽子はニューヨークのイースターパレードの際に撮影された。
