FOLDED TOWER ABU DABI


This proposal for mixed use residential towers in Abu Dhabi is located on an existing fishing pier that is being transformed into a residential neighborhood organized around public parks and marinas. Four mixed used residential and commercial buildings mark the main intersection of the pier and form an abstract monument facing the park, taking advantage of the views towards the waterfront.

The inspirational idea of the traditional shading screen is developed in a modernistic approach to screen fabrication. The proposal uses photovoltaic panels and perforated aluminum to create a folded wall that provides shading as well as power.

The folded screen pattern presents an abstract backdrop to the park, and is transformed on the street side with open balconies and setbacks at a residential scale. The perforations in the screen help the building breathe and its balconies provide livable outdoor rooms. Roof gardens continue the park experience becoming public gardens.


The Sunlight changes the view hour by hour, reflecting off the facets in constantly changing patterns.

 
 
 

アブダビの折紙タワー


このプロジェクトはアブダビのウォーターフロントにおける、マリーナ、公園を含む高級アパート群の開発のためのものである。住居と商業施設の複合する４棟が、埠頭で一番大きな交差店を囲み、モニュメントを思わせる構成を作っている。公園に正対しつつも岸への眺望が可能な位置にある。伝統的な折畳の透かし織りにインスピレーションを得たアイデアが現代的なアプローチの中で考案された。


太陽光パネルと穴あきアルミパネルが電力と遮光を作り出す。折り紙状のスクリーンパネルは全体として公園の背景となる巨大な壁を作り、その内側に通り側に向けてオープンなバルコニーを抱えている。建物に住宅らしいスケール感が与えられている。このスクリーンパネルは建物が息をするよう促し、快適な戸外生活のためのバルコニーとして機能する。


太陽の光が、時間と共に異なる面で反射し続け、刻々と建物の表情を変える。
