ORIGAMI SPIRAL


The origami spiral is a folded cloud light assembly of extruded polypropylene panels; a mass produced industrial product of eight foot by four foot sheets that is 100 percent recyclable .the sheets are assembled in totally flat condition but it became a arched shape when is folded. No tools, machines or specialty expertise is required, simply the art of folding combined with the innovation of rethinking an everyday material. The origami spiral is a luminous ice cool shelter from the summer sun that expands into the landscape, sheltering and framing the theatrical events that will take place within and against its faceted backdrop.
 
 
 

オリガミ　スパイラル

 

科学と芸術の間に学際的な橋架けを目指し、オリガミを建築に応用したプロジェクトである。 段ボール状のポリプロピレンシート50枚から出来ている。この素材は2.4 ｍｘ1.2 ｍの工業製品で、100％リサイクル可能である。 それぞれのシートは所定の線に沿って折り曲げられた後、繋ぎ合わされて大きなシートになる。 このとき大シートは折れ線に沿って開けば完全に平たい四角形になる。逆に折り曲げの角度をきつくして行くと、この繋ぎ合わされたシートは小さなアーチ形状にまで折りたたむことができる。この大きさになれば簡単に移動することが可能となる。製作には特別な経験や機械は必要なく、シートを折り曲げ、繋ぐだけである。オリガミ スパイラルは日常にありふれた物を革的な方法で使う試みである。
